Spring is in the air — and so is the chaos. While most of us moms are mentally preparing for the end-of-year wind down, what actually hits is a frenzied storm of activity that no one really warns us about. Enter – End of School Year Stress For Moms… Between school events, camp registrations, wardrobe overhauls, and vacation planning, April and May bring a perfect storm of stress that can leave even the most organized mom feeling overwhelmed. In this post, I’m pulling back the curtain on the hidden season of hustle — the Spring Scramble — and showing you how to navigate it without losing your mind.

Spring to Summer Transition As Moms

Hey there, mama. If you’re feeling like you’re about to get caught in a whirlwind of costumes, calendar invites, wardrobe swaps, and summer prep insanity – you’re not imagining it. You’re just smack dab in what I like to call the Spring Scramble.

I’m Lauren Mora, and in this post, I want to talk you through one of the busiest, most sneaky-stressful times of the year: that chaotic transition from the end of the school year into summer. While most of us know to brace ourselves for Back-to-School and The Holidays, this season? It sneaks up FAST – and it’s a beast.

Let’s talk about how we got here… and how we’re going to survive it without losing our minds.

The Year That Never Slows Down

I used to think the year had natural ebbs and flows — periods where you could just breathe. But lately? Every small break is immediately followed by a new round of mental labor Olympics.

You blink after the holidays, and suddenly it’s time to start:

  • Planning summer camps (aka the Rubik’s Cube of motherhood logistics)
  • Signing up for spring sports
  • Registering for end-of-school-year events
  • Prepping for recitals, tournaments, and all the themed spirit days
  • And trying to remember 47 different “once-a-year” tasks 😵

Spring break pops up, then it’s Easter baskets, then Mother’s Day, then… wait a second, didn’t we just wrap Christmas gifts? Anyone else get whiplash?

New research shows that mothers take on 71% of household mental load tasks, including planning, scheduling, and organizing, while fathers manage just 45%. This imbalance often leads to stress, burnout, and strain on women’s careers and relationships. Source: University of Bath

The School to Summer Transition: The Season No One Warns You About

You know the big ones: August (Back to School) and December (Holidays).

✅ We expect those to be nuts.
❌ But May? May is out here flying under the radar, secretly wrecking our lives.

Last year, I hit a wall — totally blindsided by the sheer volume of mental load and last-minute chaos. So, I made a note. This year? I’m naming it. Planning for it. Helping YOU prepare for it, too.

Because here’s the truth: the end-of-school transition is no joke. You’re switching from one entire schedule system to a brand new one for summer, and everything hits at once.

End of school year stress for moms

A Look at the Madness

Let’s break it down so you can see why this season makes us want to lie down on the floor and not get up.

  • School Events on Repeat
Spirit Weeks, class parties, field days, music concerts, classroom celebrations, volunteer asks, early dismissals, and “surprise” costume days. All interrupting your schedule and demanding your brain power.
  • Wardrobe Overhaul
The weather changes, kids grow like weeds, and suddenly nothing fits. It’s time for a full closet turnover: shoes, socks, shorts, swimsuits, underwear. It’s a lot.
  • Extracurricular Explosion
If your child dances, plays sports, or does anything else outside of school — it’s peak season for tryouts, recitals, gear purchases, and alllllll the pickups and drop-offs.
  • The Summer Camp Shuffle
Booking camps is one thing. Then comes the outfits, supply lists, paperwork, drop-off logistics, wardrobe labeling, packing, and payments. Sleepaway camp? Double the work. (And a four-page required supply list.)
  • Vacation Planning Stress
Choosing a destination is just Step 1. Then there’s deciding dates, booking stays, choosing kid vs. no kid travel, packing lists, coordinating coverage at work and home. Whew.
  • Spending, Spending, Spending
Between gifts, camps, summer clothes, activities, vacations, and school tuition invoices, the bank account is screaming right alongside us.

Starting to see how this adds up? Your calendar is packed, your brain is tired, and everything seems urgent. That’s why this moment is exactly when the burnout hits — but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Hiring a Personal Consultant: The Support You Never Knew You Needed

My Secret Weapon: The “Heads Up” System

Inside my program, The Village, I send weekly emails with a section called Heads Up — aka your brain-saver.

It’s designed to tip you off about what’s coming so you don’t get surprised. Because none of us want to be that mom Googling “Easter basket stuffers” at 11 PM on April 2, or panic-driving to CVS for last-minute pajama day outfits.

(Haven’t we all been there?)

Knowing what’s coming isn’t just helpful — it saves your sanity. No one’s brain can hold it all. And mine? Definitely has a 0% success rate on “just remembering” things if I don’t write them down.

Your Plan to Prep, Not Panic

Because this season is especially heavy on scheduling chaos, I’m offering a special one-time School to Summer Shift Prep Guide — a targeted, six-week support system that will guide you through the madness.

School to Summer Prep Guide: Here’s what you’ll get:

  • live planning session (first weekend of April) to get your calendar and mind in order
  • done-for-you worksheet to spot upcoming events, payments, plans

  • Real-time support so you don’t have to figure it all out alone

The cost? Just $45. The peace of mind? Priceless, friend.

TL;DR — You’re Not Crazy. This Season Is Wild.

If your head is already spinning with dates, deadlines, and “did I already do that?” brain fog, you’re in good company. You’re not failing — you’re just carrying way too much at once.

But what if, this year, we went into battle ready?

What if you had a roadmap, a plan, and someone (me 🙋🏼‍♀️) gently tapping your shoulder each week so you could feel on top of things instead of constantly behind?

That’s exactly what this guide is about. We can’t stop the chaos – but we can prepare for it.

Final Thoughts

Let this be your gentle nudge — your Heads Up. Don’t wait until you’re drowning in dress rehearsal emails and reminder texts to get your act together.

We’re heading into one of the three busiest seasons of the year. But this time? We’re READY for it.

So whether you join the program or just take this as your moment to start prepping, I’m rooting for you. Big time.

And hey — at least we get to plan some vacations soon, right? 😎

Until next time,
Lauren
